i-City, Malaysia ― City of Digital Lights | SPACE MISSION

Listed as one of the world’s top 25 brightest and most colorful place. — CNN Travel

As I mentioned in my previous post, Lake Gardens was my very first just-for-fun shooting and video production hobby practice ground back in 2011. i-City in Shah Alam, Malaysia was the second location I went to for the same purpose in the same year.

This time around, I created a video montage at a LED Park when I then explored this colorful spot, wandering around on foot for 2 nights to get all those beautiful spectacles captured on video – and once again with nothing but my trusted affordable little old camera.

City of Digital Lights

i-City, the City of Digital Lights as they call it, was named as one of the world’s top 25 brightest and most colorful places by CNN Travel. This is another place I still occasionally visit from time to time for the heck of it. It sure does bring back some good old nostalgic memories on each visit…

SPACE MISSION

It was in 2016 when I got my first 4K camera and all my gears before I went back to i-City again to practice more shooting and experimenting.

This time I shot it with the Panasonic Lumix GH-4 camera using the Tokina AT-X 11-20mm f/2.8 PRO DX Lens for Canon EF + Metabones Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster “S” Version – all mounted on the Glidecam HD-2000 stabilizer.

I captured the video on Cinema 4K (4096 × 2160 resolution) while having the time of my life in this awesome deep space mission exploration experience called Space Mission.

Space Mission is a 30,000 sq ft “deep space experience” designed to combine education and entertainment in an intergalactic setting. It’s made up of four segments – Starship Explorer, Intergalactic Travel, Planet Exploration, and Base Station.

We journey through the Starship Explorer spaceship and then entered a time capsule that transported us into the future – coming face-to-face with sweeping views of the galaxy, warping through space wormholes in the speed of light, experiencing spacewalk, encountering aliens/humanoids, whizzing comets & meteor showers, and even participated in a space battle, sort of.

We also got to visit Planet Pandora, where we rode in a small capsule while observing its cool extra-terrestrial environment.

Upon disembarking our capsules, we entered an interactive trivia section with touch screen monitors posing challenging questions about our solar system. That was a fun way to learn stuff.

Xenomorph Alien Attack!

Suddenly, the research station goes under attack by escaping hostile space aliens. The Xenomorph Queen stasis was also compromised.

Transformers

Luckily, the Autobots were auto-activated when their senses detected danger. Both Optimus Prime & Bumblebee came into immediate action to protect us along with those good aliens from the bad ones and some bad humans too. We also got away undetected by Decepticon’s deadly robotic organism war machine, Ravage. Phew! That was a close one…

The Space Mission provides all space travelers with a glimpse into the many wonders of intergalactic travel and deep space exploration while challenging their minds to think beyond the ordinary.

This edutainment attraction aims to reignite the interest in space science and technology in an innovative fashion – by making it an affair where everyone can immerse in various forms of futuristic space travel adventures and fantasies – just like my fantasy which told you above which I also made it into a video below 😄:

Map Guide

My friend, David @ Malaysia Traveller, has detailed information about the many attractions at i-City if you want to pay a visit for some fun times. You can use the map guide below to get there:
